Mold Release Agent

Mold Release Agent is a premium semi-permanent release system designed specifically for composite molding applications. Unlike conventional waxes or PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) films, this advanced formulation chemically bonds to the mold surface, creating a durable, non-stick barrier that provides multiple releases per single application. It eliminates resin transfer, prevents part sticking, and leaves a high-gloss finish on carbon fiber, fiberglass, and Kevlar components. Suitable for hand layup, vacuum bagging, prepreg autoclave curing, and resin infusion processes.

Key Features

  • Type: Semi-permanent / solvent-based

  • Color: Clear / Transparent

  • Compatibility: Epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, phenolic, polyurethane resins

  • Mold Types: Metal (steel, aluminum), composite, fiberglass, coated surfaces

  • Multiple Releases: 3 – 10+ releases per application

  • Temperature Rating: Up to 400°C (752°F)

  • Zero Transfer: Does not transfer to molded part

  • No Buildup: Does not accumulate on mold surface

How to Use (Standard Application Process)

Step 1: Clean Mold

  • Remove all previous wax, resin, and contaminants

  • Use mold cleaner or acetone

  • Ensure mold is completely dry

Step 2: Apply Sealer (First Time Only)

  • Apply MRA-SEAL to new or stripped molds

  • Wipe on, let flash, buff off

  • One thin coat only

Step 3: Apply Release Agent

  • Shake well before use

  • Apply thin, even coat using clean lint-free cloth or spray

  • Wipe on – do not pool or puddle

  • Allow to dry (10 – 30 minutes at room temperature)

Step 4: Buff (If Required)

  • Some grades require light buffing with dry cloth

  • Follow product-specific instructions

Step 5: Apply Second Coat

  • Repeat step 3 – allow 10 – 15 minutes between coats

  • 2 – 3 coats recommended for maximum releases

Step 6: Cure

  • Allow final coat to cure for 30 – 60 minutes before molding

  • Heat accelerates cure (5 – 10 minutes at 50 – 100°C)

Step 7: Mold Part

  • Process your composite layup normally

Step 8: Demold

  • Part should release easily

  • If sticking, apply additional coat before next part
