Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP): Dibutyl Ester

Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), also known as dibutyl ester, is a clear, colorless, odorless liquid plasticizer used to modify the mechanical properties of thermosetting resins. When added to epoxy, polyester, or vinyl ester resin systems, DBP increases flexibility, reduces brittleness, improves impact resistance, and lowers viscosity for better fiber wet-out during carbon fiber and fiberglass composite fabrication. It is also widely used in structural adhesives, sealants, and coatings.
